Three Alumni Honored this Spring for Achievement, Service

Samuel D. Ostrow '67 and Nancy Kepes Jeton '76 are being ­honored with Dartmouth College Alumni Awards this spring in recognition of their involvement in civic organizations, career achievement, and extraordinary service to Dartmouth. Additionally, Lisa Koestner Mortell '95 is receiving the Dartmouth Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer service to Dartmouth.

Nancy Kepes Jeton '76, of Andover, Mass., will be honored in Hanover in May 2009, during Alumni Council weekend. Jeton served twice on the Alumni Council, first as an undergraduate representative (1975-1976) and later at-large (1984-87). She has also served two terms on the Tucker Foundation Board of Visitors and two terms on the Board of Trustees (1997-2007).  She currently volunteers with the Dartmouth College Fund and is a former recipient of the Young Alumni Award. An urban planner, she holds a Master of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and is currently special assistant to the head of school at Phillips Academy. As an undergraduate she majored in geography-urban studies and was a Senior Fellow.

Samuel D. Ostrow '67, of Pound Ridge, N.Y., will also be recognized in Hanover during Alumni Council weekend. The president and CEO of public relations consulting firm Ostrow & Partners Inc., he holds a law degree from the John Marshall Law School. Ostrow is president of his class and a Dartmouth College Fund leadership agent. He is a former president of the Dartmouth Class Officers Association and of the Dartmouth Class Presidents Association. Ostrow has also served on the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine editorial board and the Alumni Council. He volunteers in his community on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross of Westchester County (New York). A religion major at Dartmouth, Ostrow is chairman of Lightworks Enterprises, Inc., a subsidiary of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition.

Lisa Koestner Mortell '95, of Denver, Co., will be presented with the Young Alumni Award at the Denver Alumni Club's annual dinner in May. Mortell volunteers as a head agent for the Dartmouth College Fund and as a class officer. She has served the Dartmouth Association of the Rocky Mountains as club president and district enrollment director. Formerly director of development at the Kent Denver School, she majored in English at Dartmouth.
