HEALTH

No extremely serious health issues to report this week. One of our students had to go to the doctor to see about an infection she got when she scraped her leg in Inner Mongolia. That seems to be healing slowly, but surely. Today when we went to another section of the Great Wall (this one was called Huang Hua -- Yellow Flower) a student fell into some shrubbery and later developed some sort of rash. I called the International SOS people and they said to give her antihistamines and hydrocortisone. If things aren't better by tomorrow, then I'll take her in to see a doctor. Tomorrow, I'll be going in to get our First Aid Kit restocked so that we're all ready for the Silk Road Trip. When we bought the kit two years ago they ordered it from Indonesia, so today when I was looking for hydrocortisone all the lotions were written in Indonesian! Arghh… We'll have to get this corrected tomorrow.

SCHOOL

Professor Mowry's second, and last, exam is over and so the kids can breathe a sigh of relief. As of now, there are only 3 days of school left. Thursday will be the last exams in the Chinese language courses and Friday is the farewell to teachers day. We're supposed to have a big goodbye banquet with the teachers on Friday night as well.

This week one main order of business is for groups to film their projects and prepare their final presentations for Friday.

LIFE

Life's definitely good in Beijing. The weather has been gorgeous the last few days. It's unseasonably cool and very comfortable. Many students did a lot of last minute shopping (not that this is quite last minute yet, but they'd like to think so) for gifts. Others have taken this free weekend opportunity to visit places they haven't seen yet in and around Beijing.

TRIPS

We're all looking forward to the Silk Road Trip coming up on the 21st. Parents, I put a copy of the itinerary on our webpage where the calendar section is so that you can keep track. I plan to be able to access the net on the road so please keep monitoring the FSP website for day by day footage of your children having the time of their lives.

This is the next to last update folks.

See ya next week!
