Why not be the next student assistant to the director of Dartmouth's Tokyo Program?
In late fall or early winter quarter every year the Japanese program in the Dept. of Asian and Middle Eastern Languages and Literatures accepts applications for the position of Assistant to the Director of the Tokyo Language Study Abroad (LSA+) program. Duties include clerical work; leading of excursions in and around Tokyo; facilitating communication between the students, the director, homestay families, the language instructor, and the staff of Kanda University of International Studies; English-language writing and editing; informal advising on cross-cultural matters, etc. Qualifications include: familiarity with Tokyo and its environs; Japanese and English language abilities; good interpersonal skills. Basic digital photography and web maintenance skills a plus, but not essential. While all Dartmouth students are eligible, those in the Japanese program (particularly students who have participated in previous LSAs and/or served as assistant teachers/ drill instructors) are especially encouraged to apply. Airfare to and from Tokyo, and room & board will be supplied; there is no living stipend provided. The program generally runs from the second week of June to the third week in August, with the Assistant to the Director arriving a few days prior and leaving a few days later.
