Tunbridge

From Cosmo:

"Head out on US 5 until you reach the junction of 132. Take a left onto 132 all the way up to South Strafford, where you bear right. Then, at the Strafford Church, hang a right. Fun, long uphill. Fun, long downhill. By the time you merge left onto 110 in Tunbridge, you will have changed watersheds! Follow 110 into Royalton and cross I-89 and the White River (your new watershed) and turn left, heading south on nice country street (probably called River Road). Keep an eye peeled for town lines. At Sharon, you are forced back across the river. Here you can head back straight over 132 (more climbing, fewer cars) or left, back along 14. (flat, choppy and full of cars). Things to try include Tigertown Road (if you don't mind riding on the dirt) and the epic views on the grinding climb of Jericho Hill (see map). "

My recommendations:

  • One can get to 132 by taking Goodrich Four Corners, and then Patrell. This lets you avoid riding along the river.
  • A great way to lengthen the ride is to go up Howe Hill, and then down Pomfret.
  • To further lengthen the ride: go up Howe Hill, down Pomfret, then do the Quechee loop.
  • To do a shorter 'tunbridge loop': when you reach the town of Strafford, the road Ys about a church. Stay left onto Fay(?) Brook. This road will take you to Sharon. A pretty sweet road.
