The River Loop

The classic (infamous?) ride at Dartmouth—follow route 5 north to East Thetford, cross the Connecticut river, and follow river rd south back to hanover. Cosmo says it’s about 21miles long, and to “reverse direction when you get bored with it (that should take about 2 rides).” Other ways to liven up the river loop:

1)Take rte 10 instead of river rd back (though river rd is better, imo).

2)Sprint for the many town lines

3) There are 2 short, small roads that parallel rte 5, one by the 132 junction, and one before approaching East Thetford. Both are nice ways to break up the monotony of rte 5.

4)Off of rte 5, turn left on 132, pass under I-91, and take a right on hogback rd. Don’t be fooled by the initial steep pitch, as the road is relatively mild afterwards (though mostly dirt). Keep following hogback rd north, which becomes Godfrey rd, and eventually spits you out on 113. Turn right on 113 to descend to East Thetford.
