The Kanc RideThe Kanc Ride is epic-ly sweet, going over some good-sized climbs, with plenty of scenery and views to go along. The ride described below is ~80miles long. There are ways to lengthen it (eg, parking in Warren, or parking at the Moosilauke lodge). 1) Find your way to Lincoln, and find a good parking spot. 2) Head along the Kancamangus highway-- this is the longest climb of the day, though never steep. See the pictures below (note; there were probably 20 cars that passed us taking pictures, I wasn't the only one...) 3) After a long descent after the col, take a left onto Bear Notch Rd. This road has less traffic than the Kanc, and is a smaller climb. 4) Take a right onto Crawford Notch road (I know this isn't the real name of it). This road stays more or less flat until the middle of it, where it passes over a couple steep pitches. 5) fill in 6) The road will Y, stay left at the Y and get onto the bike path. After climbing a bit, next to a lake and such, get ready for an awesome, twisty, narrow descent. Be careful not to run into anybody... Note that there is a turnoff if you desire to see where the old man of the mountain was. 7) Keep following rt 3 back to home. Note: if you're really hardcore, you can start the ride at Moosilauke lodge instead of lincoln. Doing so will result in a pretty long climb up 118 at the end of the loop. ![]() ![]() |
