Lake Fairlee is a pretty classic loop. The classic way to do the ride is to get onto 132, climb Academy Rd, go north on 113, and then travel along Lake Fairlee. If you do this, you will eventually drop back down to the Connecticut.
Other notes/ride suggestions about Lake Fairlee:
- There are a fair number of town lines along Lake Fairlee-- pay attention...
- One can travel along the other side of Lake Fairlee. It is mostly unpaved, though. A potential advantage of travelling this way is that it cuts off a fair bit of time from the Fairlee loop ride. To do this road, take a right onto 5 Corners road (note that this is way before the Fairlee turnoff).
- There is a pretty awesome loop that comes off of Lake Fairlee: the Blood Brook loop. This road is quite scenic, mostly paved, and suprisingly flat. To tack on this loop, take a right onto MiddleBrook road. When the road Y's, take a right onto BloodBrook, which will bring you back to the lake. (Note that if you stay left at the Y, it is possible to stay on Middle Brook road, and get all the way to Bradford.
