A nice loop near Etna that takes about an hour.
The flattest way possible:
- Take 120 south, and turn left on Greensboro Rd. When the roads Ys, take a left onto Etna Rd. (For those looking for a much steeper and more direct route, one can take Trescott Rd directly out of Hanover)
- Take a left on Dogford Rd. Dogford Rd loops around, all the way to Hanover Center Rd. Take a right there, follow it back south to Etna Rd, and trace your way back from there.
Variations to consider:
- Trescott Rd, as mentioned above
- That dirt road that comes off of Rip Rd (it's kind of by the storr's pond entrance), I forget the name. This takes you most of the way up Trescott road, and is much less steep/much more scenic.
- Roughly halfway around the dogford loop, one can take a dirt road that drops you back down by the river.
