3.09.09 Dartmouth Takes Fifth Overall at Rutgers/Princeton Race Weekend!

Dartmouth riders left their mark on the season opener, posting a victory in the Men's A crit, as well as a host of top ten finish by Trevor Eide, Patrick Barter, and Eve McNeill.

The talented folks over at AEGIS Bicycles have finished the first custom DARTMOUTH frameset. The others will be finished soon, and the whole set should be in Hanover within two weeks.

Since we had such a good turnout at the first clothing session, this will probably be the last chance before racing starts in March to pick up your clothing order (thanks to everyone who came to the last session!).

We will also have team socks, team armwarmers, and extra team clothing of all kinds for sale, so stop on by! We'll also have the remainder of vintage team clothing on sale at a discount -- this is a great chance to get extra jerseys, vests, shorts, etc at a great discount.

For all of you Alumni and Friends, so patiently awaiting your glorious team-issue clothing, I'm sorry I blew it. I know I said I'd have it in the mail two weeks ago, but school is hard, remember? I'll bet by now y'all have printed out life-sized versions of the images from the clothing page and taped together a sweet kit of your own. I've heard the chamois isn't too good though (ha ha ha).

But kidding aside, I promise I'll get them in the mail on Tuesday, so they should be in your hands by the end of next week. Thanks for your patience!

It's official-- Toby has started his two-week hiatus from school to go to Cyclocross Worlds. I'm a little vague on the details, but he should be racing this saturday in the world cup, and then next weekend at the big show. More updates to follow in updates in the "Races" sectoin

Snow Crit Pictures

Pictures from the Snow Crit (a glorious Dartmouth cycling team institution) are now on the wiki, in the Races section. In a recap, for those not present, fun was had by all. Eben Clattenburg was declared the winner, due to the judicious application of cheating techniques (i.e. cutting the course where no one can see you).

Clothing Update

We had great turnout at the clothing session on Tuesday, with almost everyone picking up their order. Thanks to everyone who could make it, it makes our lives easier! We will be having a makeup session sometime in the near future for those of you you missed it.

For all you Alumni and Friends out there, salivating in anticipation of your sweet new Dartmouth Team gear: We have all your orders organized, and they will be shipped out via USPS Priority early next week. The postal service assures us nationwide arrival by the end of the week (as long as I get my butt in gear on Monday and Tuesday!) For now, you'll just have to keep checking out the pictures on the Clothing page.

Record numbers turn out for January team ride.

Winter time training is in full swing here on the Dartmouth Cycling Team, although thankfully the weather thus has been mild. On this rather pleasant friday afternoon, the epic ride, born on the whim of one Mike Hooolmes, saw a record 13-rider peloton, ferociously ravaging the Dogford loop at an easy pace.

In other news, Toby was noticeably absent, since he is currently having his VO2max tested at one Fiordifrutta training camp. Toby, you better attack the heck out of Matt White on your first team ride. I know you can drop him.

CROSS NATIONALS!

Dartmouth had a great showing at 'Cross Nationals in Providence, RI. Toby Marzot took 8th and Kevin Wolfson was 15th in the stacked U23 race on Saturday. Jen Stebbins raced to 4th in the women's U23 race. She was 4th overall for collegiate women, and first in DII, good enough for a stars and stripes jersey! The next day, Toby and Kevin placed 6th and 12th in the collegiate men's race, which brought Dartmouth to 2nd in the DII Omnium standings, only 30 points behind MIT! Race Report: Stedman GP and Caster's GP 2006
Dartmouth Cycling has taken the DII ECCC Cyclocross Championship! Dartmouth riders swept the season overalls in nearly every category. Toby Marzot and Kevin Wolfson tied for the win in the Mens A season overall rankings. Jen Stebbins is the Women's B Season Overall Champion, and Jon Awerbuch won the overall competition in the Men's B standings. In related news, Toby Marzot has won the U-23 Verge series overall competition, continuing his propensity for strong, consistent performances in the final weekend of racing of the 2006 Verge Series.

Toby Marzot is currently the U23 (cyclingnews.com) Verge cyclocross series leader with two more races left.

The U23 national race is the 16th, and the collegiate race is the next day, so be ready for him to tear it up.

Rudy also won the Bay State Cyclocross Men's B race. Ryan Kelly of UNH has additional commentary and pictures.

Work on the new website has begun. It is still very much under construction, but it can be viewed here. It should now work for IE6 and 7 as well as firefox, safari, and related browsers.

National Collegiate Team Rankings from the 2005-2006 season have been released.

The Dartmouth Cycling Team is ranked third in the country! Rankings based on Track, MTB, Cross, and Road from the 2005-2006 season (through the end of the collegiate road season this spring).

• Toby Marzot 11th at U23 Nationals in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. Amazing. This race looked absolutely brutal-- 110miles, 12,000ft of climbing, something like 30 of 120 starters actually finished. Read about it here and here.
