About The Team

Fall 2006

The Dartmouth Cycling Team is a group of students (undergrad and graduate) who enjoy cycling. We ride and race together on a regular basis, and run the gamut of skill experience from expert to Cat. 5. Membership is free to all current Dartmouth students. Just send an email to the team e-mail account -- ask to join and your name will be added to the list. You will then receive information about group rides, meetings and races in your inbox, whenever they are sent out.

Our most recent scholarship suggests the first Dartmouth Bicycle Club was founded in 1961-2 by Dan Dimancescu '64, who led UConn to an Intercollegiate National Title in 1961, before transferring here. Dartmouth soon became a successful competitor on an intercollegiate cycling circuit that included Williams, Yale, UConn, Princeton and others. Our next glimpse into Dartmouth Cycling's past comes courtesy of Michael Roy '80, who has compiled an impressive memoir of his years in Collegiate Racing. For a brief slice of Cycling Team life from 15 years ago, click here. It reveals that things some things were different back then (motopacing, not doing many collegiate races) while at the same time, some things never change (nordic skiers, Omer and Bob's logos). See the Team History wiki page for more information.

As always, anyone with more information on the history of Dartmouth Cycling they should send it to the Cycling Team, so this page can be further improved.
