Automobile Accidents
If at any time a traveler is involved in a motor vehicle accident in a College vehicle (owned, leased or rented by the College), proper notification is essential. The following procedures, given to drivers traveling on College business, may be of assistance:
- In the event of an accident with bodily injury or death, call for medical assistance immediately. Contact local police authority at the time of the accident for investigation and file appropriate report(s) with the State DMV, as well as contacting the Department of Safety and Security at 603-646-2234.
- If the accident occurs on College property, notify the Hanover Police Department at 603-643-2222 to investigate. You must also report the accident to the Department of Safety & Security at 603-646-2234 and to your department head or supervisor.
- If a second vehicle is involved, obtain the name and address of each witness and the automobile insurance information for each vehicle.
- On the same day or during the next business day, the driver (if possible) must report the details of the accident to the Ingrated Risk Management and Insurance Office at 603-646-2441 for further instructions for claim filing.
- If the vehicle is rented from a rental agency, the rental agency must be contacted immediately. A copy of the vehicle rental agreement and the claim form must also be sent to the Integrated Risk Management and Insurance Office (HB6012).VISA must also be notified within 20 days of the accident.
