Self-Assessment

Identify your values, interests, skills, and talents to make informed choices regarding your future.

You don't have to be focused on a specific career to use our services.

Options Include:

  • Career Advising - Trained advisors will help you clarify internship or post-grad options and advise you regarding strategies to accomplish your goals.
    • Quick Questions - 15 minute Walk-In sessions offered every weekday from 1:30-4:00 PM.
    • By Appointment -  30 minute confidential meetings.  Call 646-2215 to schedule.  Click here for common topics discussed in an appointment.
  • Finding the Career Formula - A three-part, small group series offered each term that will give you the "formula" for developing an individual plan of action.  You'll (1) analyze your skills, interests and college experiences, (2) learn to match career options to your personal profile and (3) learn how to communicate your skills and interests.  See the Career Services Blitz Bulletin for the date and time of the next series.
  • Career Inventories - The Myers Briggs Type Indicator® and Strong Interest Inventory® are questionnaires to help you organize information related to career choices.  Sign up for a Walk-In session or an appointment to learn how best to utilize these instruments.
  • O*Net - Developed by the Department of Labor, O*Net generates a list of occupations by using key words.  Occupations are described by knowledge, skills, and abilities required; interests and work values; work activities and styles; and related occupations, state and national wages, and employment trends.
  • Alumni Advisory Network - Over 13,000 alumni are interested in helping you understand career options, make graduate school choices, and learn effective job search strategies.  The database and instructions are available in Career Services.
  • Alumni Stories - One of the best ways to expand your notion of what Dartmouth graduates do for work is to read their stories gathered by Career Services.
  • Skills Portfolio - Offers advice on how to document competencies and capabilities that you've developed through internships, leadership and community development opportunities, course work, and field-based study or research experiences.
