Student Responsibilities in Recruiting

Career Services wishes you the best as you participate in the Recruiting Program. We encourage you to bring questions, concerns, or suggestions to us at any time throughout the recruiting process. We can provide advice on how to answer interview questions; how to respond to pressure from peers, an employer, or family member; testing procedures and protocols; what questions to ask when considering an offer, and many other topics. In order to maximize opportunities for Dartmouth students and preserve the integrity of this program, we have developed the set of policies below and ask for your cooperation. Failure to comply may result in the loss of recruiting privileges.

Misrepresentation

Students who participate in any application process supported by Career Services (employment or graduate school) must accurately represent their academic and personal history on any documentation submitted as part of their application. Any student who knowingly misrepresents information will not only lose the support of Career Services in all future application processes but may be referred to the undergraduate Judicial Affairs Office for further disciplinary action.

**IMPORTANT**   Students must be living in Hanover for the term when applying for on-campus interviews. Applying for an on-campus interview during a term in which you will be off-campus is considered misrepresentation.

Interview Scheduling

Students are expected to put academics first. Interviews should be scheduled around academic commitments. Students should sign up for interviews based on a sincere interest in each opportunity. In addition, students are expected to negotiate second-round and subsequent interview dates/times so that there is no conflict with academics and previously scheduled first-round interviews. If you feel that an employer is pressuring you to take a second round interview at a specific date/time that causes you difficulty, please contact us immediately, so that we can help.

Changes/Cancellations

You may change or cancel your interview time slot up until 2:59 am TWO BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR to your interview (e.g. 2:59 am Wednesday for a Friday interview). Unfortunately, neither changes nor cancellations are accepted after that point, as final schedules have been confirmed with employers. To change or cancel an interview, follow the procedure that will be posted on the "Career Services" and the "Career Services - Entry-Level Jobs" bulletins titled "How to Change or Cancel an Interview."  Do not contact employers directly to change or cancel on-campus interviews.

No Shows

Not showing up for an interview will seriously jeopardize further participation in the recruiting program. Students are expected to call Career Services in case of emergency. Unless you have cancelled your interview by 2:59 am TWO BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR, you will be considered a "no show" and will not be permitted to continue interviews without clearance from Career Services.
