Entry-level Job Search Strategies

Different employers use different methods to fill entry-level positions. Many jobs are not advertised. Some employers only advertise or attend job fairs. Still others use their networks of contacts and professional associations to fill positions or just post jobs internally.

Employers also recruit at different times of the year. Many vacancies open up in the spring and are unanticipated. Only employers who can anticipate their hiring needs far in advance typically participate in our Recruiting Program.

To determine which specific combination of job search strategies work for you, we strongly recommend that you make an appointment with a Career Advisor in Career Services. Appointments can be made by calling 646-2215 or visiting Career Services (63 South Main Street, 2nd floor of Bank of America Building, use side entrance next to Nugget).
