General Information

Psychology

  • American Psychological Association - based in Washington, DC, the American Psychological Association (APA) is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychology in the United States.  This site includes news, organizational information, and career development information.
  • National Association of School Psychologists - The NASP represents and supports school psychology through leadership to enhance the mental health and educational competence of all children.  Includes occupational information and a career center.

Counseling & Therapy

  • American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy - The AAMFT facilitates research, theory development and education, develops standards for graduate education and training, clinical supervision, professional ethics and the clinical practice of marriage and family therapy.
  • American Association for Pastoral Counselors -  Pastoral Counseling is a unique form of psychotherapy which uses spiritual resources as well as psychological understanding for healing and growth.  Site includes occupational information as well as employment opportunities.
  • American Counseling Association - By providing leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities, and advocacy services to nearly 52,000 members, ACA helps counseling professionals develop their skills and expand their knowledge base.
  • American Mental Health Counselors Association - The mission of AMHCA is to enhance the profession of mental health counseling through licensing, advocacy, education and professional development.  Job listings included!
  • American Rehabilitation Counseling Association - ARCA is equally interest in eliminating environmental and attitudinal barriers so that more opportunities are available with regard to education, employment, and community activities to people with disabilities.  These goals are addressed by ARCA through public education and legislative activities.
  • American Therapeutic Recreation Association - The largest, national membership organization representing the interests and needs of recreational therapists.
  • National Board for Certified Counselors - An independent not-for-profit credentialing body for counselors.

Art/Dance/Music Therapy

  • American Art Therapy Association - An organization of professionals dedicated to the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life enhancing.  Its missions is to serve its members and the general public by providing standards of professional competence, and developing and promoting knowledge in, and of, the field of art therapy.
  • American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance - AAHPERD is an alliance of six national associations, six district associations, and a research consortium which support healthy lifestyles through high quality programs.
  • American Dance Therapy Association - Works to establish and maintain high standards of professional education and competence in the field of dance/movement therapy.  Great "related links" section.
  • American Music Therapy Association, Inc. - The mission of the AMTA is to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services in a rapidly changing world.  Includes career information.
