Alumni Stories

The Alumni Stories Project is made possible by a generous donation from the John B. Kovas '63 Career Discovery Program. John believed that "most of us are looking for a calling, not a job". By showcasing the rich variety of careers embraced by Dartmouth graduates and offering success stories from many different fields of endeavor, it is hoped that current undergraduates will make their passion, their work. At the very least, the Alumni Stories Project demonstrates that career paths after Dartmouth take many interesting twists and turns and where you start may not necessarily be where you end.

  • Roadtrip Nation Interviews - recent college grads, who had no idea what they wanted to do with their lives, decided to take a road trip to figure it out.  Along the way, they interviewed over 80 people, including:  a Lobsterman in Maine, the scientist who decoded the Human Genome, the Director of Saturday Night Live, the stylist for Madonna, and Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz.  All of the leaders shared where they were in their twenties, and how they resisted pressures of conformity to find their roads in life.  Today Roadtrip Nation has ignited a movement on campuses across the country, where students hit the road to interview their own list of leaders from across the country.  These road trip experiences are shared through an annual PBS Series, grassroots publications and online.
