Resource Center Hours

Spring Term Hours
  • Monday - Friday:   8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Appointments (1/2 hour sessions)

You don't have to have things all 'figured out' before coming in. Actually, that's the reason to have an appointment! All appointments are confidential and customized to the individual.

Common Appointment topics:

    • Match interests & skills to job/internship options
    • Deal with family and/or cultural expectations
    • Communicate abilities to employers or graduate programs
    • Identify college experiences that will build certain skills
    • Learn what people do in specific career fields
    • Block time and set achievable goals
    • Select a major; Relate a major to career options
    • Use internet resources most effectively
    • Plan for graduate/professional school
    • Learn various ways/resources to search internships
    • Disclose or not, a disability
    • Deal with difficult interview questions
    • Relate personality "style" to career fields
    • Earn money and get a good internship experience
Walk-in Hours (meet with a counselor for quick questions)
  • Monday - Friday:   1:30 pm - 4:00 pm (last appointment at 3:45pm)

Walk-Ins are an opportunity to get specific quick-questions answered by a Career Advisor without a prior appointment. They are approximately 15 minutes and on a first-come, first-served basis. Cover letters reviewed in Walk-Ins.

Resume Review Hours in Career Services: On a first-come, first-served basis

Resume Reviews are a one-on-one tutorial where a trained Career Assistant goes over your resume with you to provide you with feedback and explain the writing process: format, structure, content. Reviews are on a first-come, first-served basis and are approximately 15 minutes. We do not take appointments beforehand.

RESUME & COVER LETTER REVIEWS with RWIT (The Student Center for Research, Writing, and Information Technology)

1. Go to www.dartmouth.edu/~rwit and click on "on-line scheduler"
2. Make an appointment with a Career Services Trained Tutor. Their availability is listed in the timetable located within the online scheduler.
3. If the online scheduler shows the Career Services/RWIT hours are filled, you may still drop-in to check for availability. However, there is no guarantee you will be seen.

RWIT is in Baker-Berry Library, Room 183 (Level One, near the Reference Desk)

First-Time Users Sessions:
  • Thursday: 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm, 2:30pm
  • Friday: 11:30am, 1:30pm

In the First-Time Users sessions you'll receive a quick 25-minute guided tour of our office that highlights our most-frequented resources.  You'll learn how to use our internship database and other online resources, find career advisors on the Alumni Advisory Network, learn about interest tests, how to open your credentials file, and basic information on how to use our services.  Perfect for students who have never used Career Services or for those who just need a refresher course.
