Team Description

The "Situating Russia" CRN project consists of a modular network of Russian and American scholars performing research on identity in Russia and other lands of the former Soviet Union. In particular, the Russia CRN encourages and promotes sustained contact during fieldwork between Russian and non-Russian scholars. A secondary objective is a broader discussion and understanding (through comparative and synoptic perspectives) of the fundamental approaches and terminology used in studies of identity. The CRN contains three thematic groups on Center-Regional Identity, Geography and Indentity, and Religion and Identity.

The Russia CRN is supported by a grant from the Ford Foundation.  Dartmouth College hosts this website and provides electronic communication among participants in the project.  The American Council of Learned Societies coordinates the activities of the Collaborative Research Network "Identifications.
