Expedited and Exempt Studies

The CPHS Office accepts applications for review of newly proposed studies at any time. Once complete versions of all study documents are received in the CPHS Office with appropriate signatures, the study is reviewed on a rolling basis, generally in the order that it was received.

Expedited renewal materials should be in the CPHS Office 4 weeks prior to the expiration date. Please mark your calendars to start preparing the materials 6-8 weeks prior to the expiration date.

Please remember: Renewal reminders from the CPHS Office are a courtesy that our office provides to the PIs. The PI is responsible for sending the renewal documents to the CPHS Office on time. If you would like assistance in establishing your own expiration date tracking system, please contact us.

Full Committee Studies

The CPHS Office accepts applications for review of newly proposed studies at any time. Once complete versions of all study documents are received in the CPHS Office with appropriate signatures, the pre-review process begins. The CPHS Office staff communicates with each study's research team to determine whether study documents are complete and accurate, satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, and contain adequate safeguards. After the pre-review process, the study is added to the next available meeting agenda.

One of the three CPHS panels meets on the first, third, and fourth Thursday mornings of each month. Each CPHS meeting agenda contains reviews of initial applications, revisions and renewals, along with notices of expedited reviews, plus exempt and "not human subject research" determinations.

Full Committee renewal materials should be in the CPHS Office about 8 weeks prior to the expiration date. Please mark your calendars to start preparing the materials 12 weeks prior to the expiration date. Study renewal reminders will be emailed to you with the date materials need to be sent to our office.

Please remember: Renewal reminders from the CPHS Office are a courtesy our office provides to the PIs. The PI is responsible for sending the renewal documents to the CPHS Office on time. If you would like assistance in establishing your own expiration date tracking system, please contact us.
