Latest Operating System Patches

Some useful links for operating system patches are provided below. The vendor-provided pages for recommended patch sets (sometimes called maintenance releases) and security-related patches are shown. Where possible, we also have a link to a local copy of the latest patch set, for faster retrieval. The local copies are updated periodically, but we recommend you check with the vendor pages for the latest information.

Solaris

  • SunSolve Patch Access - Sun's recommended security patch clusters.
  • Local copies of recent Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 recommended Patch Clusters are available (SPARC only). See the CLUSTER_README file for the date on which this cluster was released. Some individual patches (e.g., security patches not yet in the cluster) may also be available.
  • See the Solaris Patch Cluster Install Web page for generic installation instructions. See the CLUSTER_README file included with each cluster for more details.

AIX

  • Support for AIX — IBM's online technical support page.
  • Select APARs for AIX 4.2 and AIX 4.3.2 are available locally.

HP Tru64 UNIX (Compaq/Digital)

Linux

There are many different flavors of Linux. Dartmouth currently recommends the Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution.

Local copies of non-Linux patches are actually in AFS. AFS clients can see them in /afs/northstar/public/OS, grouped by operating system.
