Symantec AntiVirus for Windows is a utility that prevents computer viruses
from attacking your computer, and removes many computer viruses once they are
already on your computer. Use of this product is legal only while employed
by or enrolled at Dartmouth College. If you leave Dartmouth, you must remove
this software from your computer.
If you are installing this version on a computer that has an earlier version
of Symantec AntiVirus running on it, then the preferences from the current
version will be used. If you are installing this program on a computer that
hasn't had any version of Symantec Antivirus on it, then during the
installation process you will be prompted to install the "Managed" or
"Unmanaged" version. The "Managed" version obtains updated virus definitions
from a Dartmouth server located in Baker/Berry; the "Unmanaged"
version obtains updated virus definitions from a Symantec server.
Computers normally located on campus should use the managed versions; computer
normally not connected to the Dartmouth network can use the unmanaged version.
If you select Managed, you will be prompted to enter the
server name. Enter LEDA.DARTMOUTH.EDU, then click
OK.
