In order to preserve the diplomas if it rains, or if rain is predicted, students will not receive their diplomas when they accept the congratulations of the President and Deans. Instead, they will pick up their diplomas at the following locations immediately following the ceremony:
Information on severe weather plans will be communicated via:
The websites and phone number listed above will be updated throughout Commencement weekend.
Our ceremony is held outdoors, and the safety of our graduates, families, and guests is our priority. In the highly unlikely case of lightning, hail, or dangerously high winds, a severe weather plan will be implemented.
In order to place into motion all the services needed to support a change to the ceremony, any determination to implement the severe weather plan will be made on Saturday, the day before Commencement. An email communication will go out on Saturday to all graduating students informing them of the severe weather plan.
If the severe weather plan is implemented, bachelor and advanced degree candidates, the platform group, and marching faculty will report to the Leede Arena for the ceremony. Family and guests will NOT be permitted in Leede Arena.
Each graduating student will receive four (4) Remote Viewing Tickets when they pick up their cap and gown (see Academic Regalia for location and times). We encourage all family and guests to stay in their hotels or other accommodations and watch the ceremony live online. However, those with tickets who wish to watch on campus from remote viewing locations should report to the remote viewing location printed on their tickets. It is imperative that any guests over and beyond the four (4) with tickets stay at their lodging accommodations, as there are not enough seats within the remote viewing locations for all visiting guests.
In addition to remote viewing:
Shuttle bus service will be provided from the Dewey, Thompson, and Ledyard lots on Sunday from 6 am to 2 pm. The shuttle route runs along Park Street and Wheelock Street, with a stop at the corner of the Green at College and Wheelock Streets (between the Hopkins Center and Hanover Inn). The shuttles are not wheelchair accessible (see Disability Access for accessibility information).
For remote viewing accessibility information, please contact Conferences & Events via email or by calling (603) 646-2923.
