Rain or Severe Weather – Commencement Weekend Updates

Commencement exercises will be held on the College Green, rain or shine. Please bring raincoats and umbrellas if appropriate. In order to preserve the diplomas if it rains, or if rain is predicted, students will not receive their diplomas when they accept the congratulations of the President and Deans. Instead, they will pick up their diplomas at the following locations immediately following the ceremony:

  • Undergraduate students: Robinson Hall (Graduating students should enter through main door)
  • DMS graduates: 302 Remsen, Student Affairs Office
  • Thayer School graduates: Cummings, Great Hall
  • Graduate students in the Arts and Sciences: Third floor, Wentworth Hall
  • TDI graduates: Novell Building, Centerra Park
  • Tuck School graduates: 111 Tuck Hall, MBA Program Office (Tuck: Available beginning on Monday)

In the case of dangerously high winds, lightning, or other severe weather, the ceremony will be delayed. Only in the highly unlikely event that such weather persists would the ceremony be canceled. Information about a delay or cancellation may be obtained on Commencement morning by accessing the following resources: the Commencement web site, www.dartmouth.edu/~commence/; the individual web sites of the graduate and professional schools (see the Commencement web site home page); a recorded message at (603) 646-8181; or WDCR radio, channel 99.3 FM.

The web sites and phone number listed above will be updated throughout Commencement weekend with any venue changes, delays or cancellations. Please note: (603) 646-8181 will not accept messages.
