The Collection Policies Group provides a forum for the discussion and maintenance of collection management and development policies. The primary responsibilities of CPG are: the review of established collection management and development policies and their recommendation to CMDC; the recommendation of subject or interdisciplinary areas where policies are needed; the review and recommendation for approval to CMDC of all new policies and the recommendation to retire policies that are no longer relevant.
In addition to the maintenance of the collection development policies, CPG is also responsible for the following duties:
The overall purpose of the Serials Group is to serve as a resource for the discussion of serials-related issues and for the development of information, plans, and procedures relating to serials collection management and development. Membership will include representatives from Public Services [humanities, social sciences, and sciences] and from Collection Services.
4. Electronic Information Group
The purpose of the Electronic Information Group (EIG), a sub-committee of CMDC, is to keep current on developments in electronic information and bring relevant topics to CMDC for discussion and decision-making, as well as to conduct projects relating to electronic information management under the guidance of CMDC. Members of EIG may also act in an advisory role for bibliographers when they select, acquire and make accessible information in electronic format.

Reporting to the Collection Management and Development Committee, the Preservation Committee shall assist and advise the Preservation Services Librarian in administering the preservation program of the Dartmouth College Library. Membership is voluntary and should represent both public and technical services.
Specific responsibilities of the committee include:
The Disaster Committee and the Collection's Conservation Roundtable will report to the Preservation Committee.
