Introduction |
| Dartmouth Men's Club Tennis has notoriously mysterious origins. Many archaeologists have spent their lives attempting to trace the founding and early years of this most ancient and secretive brotherhood. Some claim the DMCT can be linked all the way back to hieroglphys found in Egypt, reading TCODM (Tennis Club of Dartmouth Men). Others have written papers claiming that the classic international pastime derives from an ancient Greek phase roughly translated as "Club of the Kings". Unfortunately, an authoritative history of the DMCT appears lost to the sands of time. However, we outline here what is known, starting circa 2004. |

Le Première Republique |

The exact founding of the modern DMCT remains cloaked in the shadows of mystery. Circa 2003-2004, a group of Dartmouth students brought the club into existence. They toured the country on Homeric Odysseys, overcoming all opposition in their path. These titans of tennis came to be feared throughout the land. Even today, one can still hear stories from the wise and the old that herald the feats of these founding players of the Première Republique. This golden age lasted until the titans of yore yielded power to the Duexième Republique. |
Le Deuxième Republique |
| In late autumn of 2006, the powers of the DMCT came into the hands of Josh Jacobson '09 and Stephen Spitz '09. This marks the beginning of an expansionary period in DMCT history known as the Deuxième Republique. The club grew, and the classic international pastime entered into an historic pact of alliance. This union of nations included many other clubs with which the DMCT could regularly compete. With the addition of a strong crop of new player, the DMCT won itself much honor, winning two titles. |
