Major and Minor Programs

requirements are listed below.

Getting started with your major or minor

A.      A student contemplating a major or minor should arrange a meeting with a regular faculty member whose teaching and research are focused in the relevant major track, or may choose to meet with the department’s designated undergraduate advisor(s) or the chair.[1]

B.     The faculty member and major/minor candidate should confer and fill out the major/minor worksheets and major cards together.

C.      Faculty who are not serving as advisors or the chair should initial the card and give it to the chair or one of the undergraduate advisors to be checked for accuracy.

D.     The chair or advisors will sign all completed cards.

One signed card will be submitted to the Registrar by the student, one will be kept on file by the department, and one will be held by the student.  After filing, the new major will be assigned a formal advisor by the department.

1. In 2011-12 and in 2012-13 the co-advisors are Paul Christesen and Hakan Tell.
