Week Nine: May 17

Map for Week 9

17 May: Ani and Kari Reporting: Today was a free day for our group, and all of us had to find ways to entertain ourselves on the island of Rhodes. Randy and Anais lounged around in the hotel for most of the morning and then decided to hit the local beach. Melissa thought she would catch up on some sleep and work on the free day. In fact her plan was as follows: sleep, ISP, sleep, Nintendo, Nintendo, sleep. Rebecca, Sarah and Katie decided to take the ferry down to the island of Simi and then on to Turkey. There the glorious trio decided to rent mopeds for an hour. Sarah Jones, the adventurer, however, thought she could drive a moped at lightspeed. But instead it seems that our Jonesy was standing on the ground while the moped sped away. Leslie, suffering from clothing deprivation, had to do some shopping in Rhodes, and Liz followed with some shopping inquiries of her own. After the shopping spree they went to the beach. Mike followed them after watching lots of TV movies all day long. Chris Young also followed, and somewhere along the way he picked up some sleek sunglasses. Sarah Murray took long walks and then also ended up at the local beach. Evan…well he was working on his dissertation all day long; he is now on page 234. Dr.Pavlos thought he would rent a white Volkswagen Polo, and drive around the island of Rhodes. Ellizabeth Sullivan and the two glorious leaders of the day decided to follow him. In our journey we encountered a miniature Florida, as well as a rainforest. We also found a swimsuit optional beach and opted to spend the afternoon there (in our swimsuits).
