Week Seven: April 30

Map for Week 7

30 April: Evan and Sarah Jones Reporting: Update for April 30: A conversation between two leaders. Evan: So, that was some bus ride. Sarah J: Yeah. Ten hours on a bus is a bit long. Evan: Especially on that bus. Sarah J.: Whoever designed that one was not expecting passengers to have legs. Evan: Or eyes. Talk about your fugly décor. Sarah: What’d you think of Thermopylae? Evan: For a roadside monument, it was pretty cool. I have a man-crush on Leonidas. You can tell from all the sculptures that he’s a total stud. Sarah J: Yeah, tell me about it. Evan: It was odd imagining that at that spot only a few thousand years ago 250,000 Persians got their butts handed to them by only a few thousand Greek soldiers. I’m glad Greece won that one. Sarah J: But they lost. Evan: What’s that now? Sarah J: There was a traitor. The Persians ended up killing all the Spartans. Evan: But Leonidas was okay, right? Sarah J.: Sorry, champ. Evan: Ah well. Sarah J.: I much preferred our second stop, Dion. Evan: If only because you love Canadian singing sensation Celine Dion. Sarah J.: Do not. Evan: I totally heard you in the shower singing that Titanic song “My Heart Will Go On.” Sarah J: You heard that? Evan: Every note. Sarah J.: Well, regardless, it was a nice, quiet town. And they had an “archeological park.” Evan: Parks are nice. Could’ve used a playground though. Sarah J: Sure, but there was a Roman Villa, with a mosaic in situ. Evan: Ooh. Using big Latin words, are we? I can do that too. In Loco Parentis, vis-à-vis, de facto something. How do you like that one? Sarah J.: What’s wrong with you? Evan: [mockingly sung with annoying Canadian accent] Once more I open the door… Sarah J.: Shut up. She’s a singer for the ages. Evan: I much prefer the song stylings of one Dion Warwick. Sarah J.: Deion Sanders had a song once, too, but that was pretty bad. Evan: Well, we should probably go to sleep. We have to leave Kavala at 6:20 tomorrow morning. Sarah J: Good idea. Evan: Okay. [Long pause] Sarah J.: No, Evan, this is my bed.. Evan: You and your details, Sarah. FIN.
