Week Four: April 9
April 9: Free Day, Leaders Rebecca and Anais reporting: So today was a half-day, to enjoy the lovely sights of Nafplio. We started off the morning back out at Mycenae, checking out the cool giant tholos tombs. The Treasury of Atreus was worth all of its hype, and we finished off the day with a group photo around 10.30 am. After that, we all returned to Nafplio and dispersed into the beautiful day. Most of the group went to the one Internet Café (the Mens’ Hall, where we felt so welcome) and out to lunch, some slept, a lot did reading, and Katie left her room briefly to go get ice cream and Rebecca went to the Castle that overlooks the ocean. At 2pm, some of us tried to take a boat taxi out to the Alcatraz-esque castle on the island, but were thwarted by the fact that there was absolutely no one visible on the pier. The rest of the day was passed in grocery shopping, sleeping, goofing around and dinner. At 8pm we congregated for our necessary quiz on the Iliad, and ended the day with various reading and wandering about the town.
