Map for Week 1

20 March: Sarah Murray and Sarah Jones Reporting: We started off the morning with a lecture in our borrowed classroom at University College London by Dr. Schultz on Egyptian art, which got us off to a real fascinating start. Later, in the museum, we, in fact, saw Egyptian art, supplemented by the highly-anticipated commentary of Dr. Nigel Strudwick, one of the Egyptian curators at the British Museum, who impressed us with his vast knowledge of the BMâs great collection of Egyptian Art. Lunch passed with no severe gastro-intestinal incident, although Mike was less than satisfied with his choice of Falafel, and we returned to the galleries for an outstanding talk on Greek pottery by Dr. Dyfri Williams, Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum. Our day in the museum ended with two carpal-tunnel inducing hours of note-taking and writing analyses of objects in the Museum. By the end of the day, we were all pretty spent and while most of us returned to the hostel for some down time, five of the girls began frantically primping for their trip to the ballet, which was Sleeping Beauty.
