This trip was really all that I expected it to be and more. So many things that I had learned about back at Dartmouth I actually got to see, and no matter how many online images you see of a site or a piece of pottery, nothing really beats physically being there. I had seen so many pictures of the Parthenon before coming here but actually sitting down and watching the sun hit the West Pediment got me in touch with the building in a way that no photo album could ever have. Granted there are constant physical challenges on this trip. The Greeks like to build high, so most sites entailed long hikes or climbing at times. If you're someone like me and entirely out of shape, this does originally get in the way of fully enjoying the sites. But after many hikes you gradually start getting into shape and start thinking you're up for a mountain walk at any time of the day. And once you're at that point, all the sites you see just become a great deal more enjoyable.

Also I think after a semester in snowy Hanover being out in the sunlight all the time in the second half of the trip, did wonders for my humor. And what really made this trip for me was the people was the people that were around me almost every waking hour. Yes, I'm sure we got tired of each other many times, but I don’t think I would have felt as at home and at peace with myself here without them.
