Chinese Resources: Texts and Sounds

Chinese Texts
This section is under the supervision and management of Professor Hua-yuan Li Mowry. Every Text developed and/or compiled at Dartmouth is presented in three versions: text using traditional characters (and pinyin sans tone-marks); text using simplified characters (and pinyin sans tone-marks); and each of the preceding in graphical-format (GIF with pinyin cum tone-marks). We welcome your comments and suggestions.
    Proverbs
Developed under a grant from the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning, this section includes some 2,500 common Chinese proverbs and sayings, all taken from the 1933 collection, A Complete Collection of Popular Proverbs as compiled by Zhu Yuzun.
Traditional Texts for Children and Young Adults
Developed under a grant from the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning, this section includes four traditional primer texts: The Three-character Classic, The Thousand-character Text, One Hundred Surnames, and Girls’ Classic.
    Voice
This section links to the texts that have a voice component. This section is expanding, as we continue to complement the texts with ever more "readings" in putonghua.
This section provides links to various essential Chinese text-websites. Five broad categories of links are included:
    • Teaching Materials
