Before Lab
Before coming to lab, complete the prelab portion of your write-up in your notebook. This includes the objective, reference, four prelab problems, procedure, and analysis flowchart or sample calculations. In your analysis flowchart or sample calculations, be sure to include how to calculate the two rate constants that you will determine.

In Lab
Record your data and observations in your notebook as you perform the experiment. Note any changes made to the procedure written in your prelab. Record your observations of the reaction that occurs, the name of your lab partner, and the source of your sample of cobalt complex. Your lab write-up should include plots of absorbance vs. time at each wavelength monitored, and these plots should be made as the data are measured.

After Lab
In the results section of your notebook, show a clear analysis of your kinetic data. To analyze your data, plot them in the form of the expected integrated rate law, using the correct absorbance expression, for both reactions. Use a Least Squares analysis to determine the psuedo first-order rate constant k' and overall rate constant k for the initial ligand exchange reaction. For the second reaction, where pseudo first-order conditions are not used, a Least Squares analysis will determine the first-order rate constant for the ligand isomerization.
