Goals
In this experiment with your cobalt complex, you will examine the acidity of the complex's water ligand. You will determine the acid dissociation constant (Ka) of the complex by titrating it with base. The titration will also give an indication of the purity of your sample. A second part of today's lab work is to perform initial experiments on the mechanism of ligand exchange reactions. This kinetics study is detailed in the pages of the website labeled Week 7, Part 2.
