Chapter 11
 
Chapter 11 discusses the prelude to quantum mechanics (you might want to review a good general chem or modern physics text here) and the postulates - the assumed rules - of quantum mechanics.
Reading - Week 2
Chapters 11 and 12
 
Chapter 11 ends with a discussion of phenomena predicted in QM, but not common to classical physics. Chapter 12 takes us on an important road through simple model systems we'll use again and again.
