Amenorrhea

Absence of menstruation, defined as less than 3 periods per year. The hormonal drop contributes to premature bone loss.

Bingeing

Uncontrolled eating, in a discrete period of time, an amount of food that is definitely larger than most individuals would eat under similar circumstances.

Compulsive Exercise

An obsession to burn calories. Exercise interferes with other activities and may be engaged in despite injury or other medical problems.

Disordered Eating

Preoccupation with food, exercise and weight which can lead to changes in eating and/or exercise and result in nutritional problems. Disordered eating can develop into an eating disorder.

Eating Disorders

There are three eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder. People with eating disorders, however, may exhibit food behaviors characteristic of any of the disorders.

Purging

Inappropriate behaviors used to prevent weight gain. The most common form of purging is self-induced vomiting. Other methods include fasting, excessive exercise, and misuse of laxatives/diuretics.
