A Symposium Exploring Relationships, Violence, Responses and Models for Change
Moore Hall, Dartmouth College
SATURDAY OCTOBER 4, 2003 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
A full day of workshops including subjects such as: Stockholm Syndrome; Batterer Profiling; Domestic Violence in the Media; Violence in LGBIT Relationships; Relationship Violence on Campus; Effective Substance Abuse Treatment for Men who Batter; Creating Legislative and Legal Options in Domestic Violence Cases; Relationship Violence and Athletes; and the Politics of Victimization.
Among the many great presenters:
Violence within intimate relationships is a problem that affects every community at all levels. This symposium will bring together groups and individuals committed to ending relationship violence from the Dartmouth College campus as well as from every sector of the Upper Valley -- including: law enforcement and legal advocacy, domestic violence and sexual assault agencies, counseling and psychological services, related community agencies and activists, and interested individuals. Stemming the tide of domestic violence is often a job we do in isolation from others whose roles in addressing the issue are different from our own. We hope that Intimacy and Violence enables everyone involved to benefit from collective wisdom, develop productive working relationships across approaches, and build support networks that re-energize our work.
The Moore Building in which the Symposium will take place is fully handicapped accessible. If you have other special needs, please let us know by September 22, 2003.
Continental breakfast and a box lunch will be provided.
