A number of general and thematic maps using primary care service areas have been developed. The maps provide graphic illustrations of patterns of resource availability and state or national demographics; for example, areas with no pediatricians or areas where the median household income is low.
The HRSA Geospatial Data Warehouse (HGDW) is a centralized store of data resources related to HRSA programs. The HGDW captures grants, scholarship and loan programs, designation of underserved areas, and service demonstration programs and integrates these with data acquired from external sources (such as the PCSA Project). One component of the HGDW is a map tool which permits the user to design and print maps specific to their interests and needs. In its current configuration, the user can generate maps that include specific geographies such as counties, zip codes areas or PCSAs or HRSA program information such as locations of HRSA funded programs such as federally qualified health centers or hospitals. In addition, PCSA data files can be downloaded. To access PCSA data from the HGDW, go to http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/pcsa.htm.
