In the event that your interested in public policy and human rights — and are going to be in Massachusetts for the fall term, there’s a great new internship listing on Dartboard.

The internship is being offered by Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), an independent not-for-profit organization that mobilizes the specialized skills, rigor and passion of health professionals and scientists to investigate and stop egregious violations of human rights. PHR focuses on mass atrocities and severe human rights violations against individuals. PHR conducts research and investigations globally, and advocates for the:

Prevention of individual and small-scale violations from becoming mass atrocities;

Protection of internationally guaranteed rights of individuals and civilian populations;

Prosecution of perpetrators and accountability for violations;

Reporting to the Director of PHR’s Anti-Torture Program, the Intern for the Massachusetts Campaign Against Torture (MACAT) will assist with the development and implementation of a legislative strategy in support of a Massachusetts state bill that would address the role of health professionals in the abuse and torture of prisoners and prohibit their participation in interrogations.
