We recently received a note from one alum who is reaching out to assist the undergraduates at Dartmouth.  Here is a portion of her email:

“If there are ever any undergraduates who are looking to learn more about working in the arts industry, please let me know. I remember ….  when I was an undergraduate trying to figure out how to break into this industry …. and would like to make sure that those seeking professions in the arts industry from Dartmouth have a sufficient understanding of not only where to look, but what the industry is like and what skills are needed to be able to get a foot in the door. PBS NewsHour – Broadcast Desk Assistant (Jan-July 2012): APPLICATION DEADLINE OCT. 31/2011
Rotations in research, newsroom, tape library, reporting, and production. The Desk Assistant (DA) position is part of a six-month entry-level program aimed at providing practical experience in a broadcast news setting. The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), is hiring!  SIFF is the largest, most well-attended film festival in the United States (150,000+ filmgoers in 2011). SIFF a non-profit organization and also operate two theaters in downtown Seattle.

SIFF is currently looking into hiring someone young, outgoing, creative, charismatic, self-motivated, bright, passionate, resourceful, eager, organized, and energetic for an entry-level fundraising position with a specific focus on community partnership with local businesses, non-profits, special interest groups, and foreign consuls.   The position would be located in Seattle and would start as soon as possible.  Check it out in the Nationwide Internship Consortium.
