Physician education and training is an essential means by which the Section of Cardiology contributes to the educational mission at DHMC. This spans from the medical student, to the resident physician, and to the cardiology fellow. At each stage, members of the Section provide didactic teaching, bedside teaching, and specialized training through a variety of electives.

Resident Teaching
A key function of staff and fellows at DHMC is participation in housestaff education as residents migrate through the Inpatient Cardiology Service (4 East) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) rotations.
Structured Educational Opportunities: Specific educational opportunities provided housestaff during clinical rotations include:
- Dedicated daily bedside teaching with staff physicians, focusing on nuances of the clinical history taking and cardiovascular examination
- Dedicated didactic teaching provided by staff and fellows, provided 3 days per week, typically at 11 am - in the Cardiology Conference Room on level 5
- Optional attendance at daily noon-time Cardiology conferences (located in Cardiology Conference Room on level 5) - see schedule
- Daily participation in multi-disciplinary rounds
- Assigned reading on key cardiology topics obtained in a printed manual provided to all housestaff at the beginning of each rotation (and also available for review on-line)
On-line Curriculum: All housestaff are provided with a printed manual at the beginning of each rotation, containing didactic teaching material (primarily reviews on key cardiovascular topics). The majority of information contained in this manual can also be accessed on-line and reviewed. Review on-line curriculum...
