Overview:

Topics for review during the initial 4-week rotation of internal medicine housestaff on ICCU or CCU rotations this academic year are presented here. Most resources will also be provided to housestaff in a printed manual which must be returned at the end of the rotation. It is intended to guide didactic sessions and provide reading materials that will be required medical knowledge for physicians with careers in internal medicine or any of its subspecialties. In compliance with the ACGME/RRC and ABIM objectives and as a supplement to bedside and case-based teaching, teaching sessions will occur daily from 1000-1100 either at the patient bedside or in designated conference location (cardiology conference room, level 5). The cardiology service attendings and fellows will be responsible for ensuring that the teaching sessions are maintained as a priority. The June 2007 calendar enclosed defines dates and topics.

It is the responsibility of the housestaff to read the materials in the manual as part of their educational effort during the cardiology rotation. The distributed materials will function as a foundation for the teaching sessions but alternate or supplemental materials can be employed at the discretion of the faculty. The manuals are to be returned to Jan. L. Willey (ext 5077) at the conclusion of the rotation or personally delivered to the next housestaff member beginning the service.
