Connect
Connect is a program/group designed to enhance the first-year experience and maximize academic potential through the utilization of networks and systems. Participants learn and practice basic skills required for successfully networking and are supported in building connections with their peers, upperclassmen, graduate students, faculty, administrators, and various campus resources/offices.
The program has three components:
- Group Mentoring System: Participants are divided into small groups at the beginning of the academic year. Each group is assigned one upperclass student mentor and a faculty affiliate. Students are encouraged to meet on a regular basis with members of their group.
- Dinners/Workshops: Dinners and workshops will be offered throughout the term that will lay the foundation for networking Connect students to important campus resources and explore topics relevant to the first-year experience.
- Incentive: Throughout the year, participants will be encouraged to complete specific tasks that we believe to be essential for the successful first-year student. Mentor Groups and individuals who complete these tasks will be recognized.
