Upgrade to Blackboard 7 - Multi-language support

Blackboard 7 allows instructors to change the interface language for their course. This means that the standard instructions and button labels will be changed to a different language.

A language change affects most but not all areas of Blackboard - some third-party tools which we have purchased separately, such as the wiki and blog tools, are not affected. Additionally, not all labels in the course menu will be translated automatically. Instructors can supply their own labels for these by going to the Control Panel, clicking on Manage Course Menu, and modifying the label of any item they choose.

The following languages are supported:

To switch a course to a different language, go to the Control Panel and then click on Settings. Next, click on Set Language Pack.

Select the desired language from the "Language Pack" drop-down menu. Check off the "Enforce Language Pack" checkbox and click Submit.

The language change takes effect immediately. For example, below is a screenshot of the send e-email page (which can be used by instructors and students) after the German language pack was selected for the course. To revert back to US English, simply follow the steps described above, and select the "System Default" language pack.
