Faculty - how does the move to Blackboard 7 affect you?
- All existing Blackboard course web sites have been preserved. You still have access to all of your materials.
- Overall, Blackboard 7 does not look and feel very different.
- The Discussion Board tool has been significantly redesigned.
- A number of new tools and features are available. These are highlighted below.

Students - how does the move to Blackboard 7 affect you?
- Students will see few changes in Blackboard 7, unless their instructors use the new features available in Blackboard 7.
- The Discussion Board tool has been significantly redesigned.
- Students are now able to change the display of the course menu in their courses.
What are the new or changed features in Blackboard 7?
- Recommended browsers - Firefox (Mac and Windows) and IE (Windows)
- New login process
- Course menu redesign - "Detail view" into content areas
- Text editor for both Mac and Windows
- Discussion Board redesign - overview for instructors and students
- Discussion Board forum options - how to set up a discussion board forum
- Gradebook - possibility to exempt ungraded items from running total, new options for entering grades
- New question formats in surveys and quizzes
- Adaptive Release - make content available to only some students, based on various criteria
- Review Status - students can mark reviewed materials as such
- Performance Dashboard - a new tool which gathers in one place all data about student performance and participation
- Multi-language support
- Podcasting - upload lecture recordings or other audio files as podcasts
- E-mail tool changes
- Quick tool linking - ability to link to any Blackboard tool from within any content area
- Help tutorial videos
