Photocopiers

Self-service photocopiers are available in both libraries and operate using a copy card system at a small fee per exposure. Copiers identified as network scanners can also scan documents and send directly to email. The Biomedical Libraries also offer a photocopying service; for more information click here.

Location

  • Dana Biomedical Library: one photocopier (network scanner) on the first floor across from the circulation desk, and one on the second floor in the copier room.
  • Matthews-Fuller Health Sciences Library: one public photocopier (network scanner) is located in an alcove near the bound journals.

Danyl Cards

  • Danyl copy card dispensers are available at each library.
  • Cards may be purchased for $1.00, which includes $0.20 credit.
  • Value can be added to the card at any time either at the circulation desks or at the Danyl card dispenser.
  • Cards may be purchased with cash or may be charged to a department or grant number.
  • The cards may be used with photocopiers throughout the Dartmouth College Library system.

Cost

  • $.06 per 8.5 X 11 sheet with a purchased Danyl copy card.
  • $.10 per 8.5 X 11 sheet if you borrow a card at the circulation desk.
  • $.12 for double sided copies or 11 X 17 sheet. Charge is per 8.5 X 11 exposure.

Transparencies

  • Transparencies may be purchased at the circulation desks for $0.25 each.
  • Only the transparencies sold at the circulation desks should be used with the photocopiers. Please do not use any other type of transparency.
  • Please note: use only one transparency at a time.

To Use Transparencies

  • Place the original face down on the photocopier.
  • Each transparency has a white strip on one edge. One side of the white strip is "shiny"; the opposite side is the "paper" side. Place the transparency into the bypass tray on the right side of the photocopier with the white strip to the left (towards the machine) and the paper side of the white strip facing down.
  • Select Bypass Tray from the "AutoSelect Paper" row of choices on the menu. Press "Start" to copy.
  • The transparency will eject from the left side of the photocopier.

Photocopier Scanning

The photocopiers now have the ability to scan a document or picture in black & white and send it to email without cost to you.

Scanning Directions:

  • Push the SCAN button
  • Type in the email address you wish to send your job to (Dartmouth.edu will automatically be added to the end of the name you type in unless you specify a different location).
  • When you scan using the document feeder your originals will need to be face up in the horizontal-landscape position. The scanner will scan everything that is in the document feeder and create one PDF. When the last page has been scanned, the job will automatically be sent.
  • When you scan without using the document feeder place the original on the glass in the portrait-vertical position. You will be able to add pages to the scan job and create a PDF until you indicate that you are finished by pushing the FINISHED button on the LCD screen. You will need to push the START button again to tell the scanner to send your job.
  • When your originals are in place push the START button.
  • If you have any questions please feel free to ask at the circulation desk
