Thesis and Dissertation Binding for Departments

The Dana Biomedical Library will assist Dartmouth Medical School departments and the Department of Biological Sciences in the procurement of bound theses and dissertations by including prepared copies with regular library bindery shipments. The Dana Library provides this service only to these designated departments and not to individuals; see below for options for individuals. The official copies of theses and dissertations are submitted through the Dartmouth College Graduate Studies office.

Theses must be delivered to Dana Biomedical Library's circulation desk, Monday - Friday, 7am-4:30pm. A print copy of this form must accompany each thesis. Once binding is complete, the department will be notified and should pick up the bound copies promptly.

Theses will be sent along with the Library's bindery shipments which are approximately quarterly. Timing of shipments is solely dependent on the needs of the Library; no special shipments will be arranged.

The costs of the binding will charged back to the account number provided. Please note:

• Theses are bound with green cloth and gold lettering.
  
  
• Titles longer than 75 characters (including spaces, punctuation, numbers, and special characters) incur an additional charge of $1.50.
  
  
• Theses over 2 inches thick incur a charge of $3.25 per inch.
  
  
• Special characters incur additional charges. The bindery can print alpha and beta characters. It cannot print italics.
  
  
• There may be additional charges for other special handling.
  
  
• Charges are determined by Acme Binding and are subject to change.
