A Quick Guide to Registering for and Using DartDoc

Requesting Articles from DartDoc

Accessing/Downloading Articles


Registering for DartDoc:

  1. From the Biomedical Libraries Web, under "Forms," click on "DartDoc: Request Articles & Books."

  2. At the DartDoc login screen, click on "First-Time Users Click Here" at the right side of the screen.

  3. On the next screen, you will see "First-Time User Registration for DartDoc Biomedical" in the purple bar. Underneath "Life Sciences, DMS, and DHMC Users," click on the button, "First-Time Users Click Here."

  4. The next screen will say: "DartDoc Biomedical" and "New User Registration for DartDoc".

  5. Fill in all fields. Hints:
  1. If you don't know your Dartmouth ID or DHMC ID Library Barcode Number, type "none;"
  2. "Preferred Notification Method", select "E-Mail;"
  3. "Article Delivery Method" will only be used if item can not be delivered electronically;
  4. "Pick-up location for book...." select Matthews-Fuller for DHMC/Lebanon or Dana for Dartmouth/Hanover.
  1. Under "About your Username and Password," If you use PubMed's Loansome Doc feature, we recommend using your full e-mail address as your Username, such as John.Doe@dartmouth.edu, and to make sure your DartDoc username matches the e-mail address as you entered it in Loansome Doc.

  2. Click on "Submit Information" button.

  3. Next you'll see a screen telling you that you successfully registered and inviting you to use DartDoc.

To request articles from DartDoc:

  1. From the Biomedical Libraries Web , under "Forms," click on "DartDoc: Request Articles & Books."

  2. Login with DartDoc Username and Password. Click "Login to DartDoc."

  3. On the next screen, click on the "Article" button under "New Request."

  4. On next screen, describe the item you want, using the fields on the form, providing as much information as you have. Click on "Submit Request" at bottom of screen, when information is complete.

  5. On next screen, you will be told that the submission was successful. No need to write down or keep track of the transaction number.

  6. Using PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Web of Science, or another database? You can make DartDoc requests directly from your search without needing to type in the article information! See instructions: PubMed, Ovid, and other databases.

To access/download an article once it is available:

  1. You will receive an e-mail that says that your article has been received and processed. The e-mail will include the URL you need to login to DartDoc: https://dartmouth.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/biomed/logon.html

  2. Login with your DartDoc username and password.

  3. The next screen, will be a table of "Electronically Received Articles,". (If you're at a different screen, click on "Electronically Recieved Articles" in the right hand column under "View").

  4. To access article, click on #####, in "TN" column. NOTE: articles will remain posted to that page for 30 days from the date of posting. Save the article to your desktop, if you desire a permanent copy. NOTE: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to download PDF files.
