Provides online access to the 4th edition of this classic work. About one-half of the articles focus on chemical substances, either as single substances or as chemical groups, especially their chemical and physical properties, manufacture, and industrial and economic significance. Other articles focus on industrial processes; on uses; on specifications, standards, and quality control; analytical and test methods; health and safety factors; on the operations and processes of chemical engineering; on fund amental topics in science and technology and on relevant general subjects. Articles are cross-referenced and contain extensive bibliographies. The encyclopedia is updated regularly.
