Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
An extensive collection of informational links on SARS provided by the CDC. The site provides complete and updated coverage of the topic for clinicians, health care workers, patients and family members, as well as the general public.
Updated news bulletins on SARS from the CDC
These regularly updated bulletins address issues related to health care workers, patients and environments such as respiratory infection, cleaning and disinfection and biosafety guidelines for handeling specimens. Contact phone numbers for additional information are also provided.
UpToDate
A topic review on SARS is available in UpToDate, a resource providing information on case definitions, epidemiology, etiology, clinical manifestations, treatment, and prevention for clinicians. The topic review will be regularly updated as new clinically relevant information is available. Related topics include "Coronavirus" and "Isolation Guidelines for Hospitals." (Access Restrictions: UpToDate is licensed for on-site use only at Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Medical School, and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Remote access is not permitted.)
World Health Organization (WHO)
The WHO site provides an extensive resource on SARS with emphasis on disease statistics, research, and travel. It provides a global perspective with information on probable and confirmed cases, epidemiology curves, and globally-mapped incidence and mortality, plus guidelines on laboratory safety, diagnostic testing, containment of outbreaks, and travel.
MEDLINEplus
A collection of web links provided by the National Library of Medicine consisting of useful consumer-oriented information from the CDC and WHO, with additional links from other reliable sources.
PubMed/MEDLINE
The National Library of Medicine's index of the world's medical literature. In the search box, type: SARS OR Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (note: the "OR" should be in CAPS.)
Science Magazine
Science is offering two papers that provide initial analysis and characterization of the SARS virus genome, along with an accompanying editorial, free to all visitors. Additional information on SARS is also made available but restricted to users at Dartmouth and DHMC/Lebanon, or to other members and subscribers.
SARS Reference
SARS Reference is a medical textbook that provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of severe acute repiratory syndrome.
US State Department
This site lists recently issued travel warnings due to various political or health conditions including the SARS virus.
New York Times
Information from the New York Times addressing social and economic conditions as they are effected by SARS, coronavirus research advances, and breaking news relevant to travelers to specific locations.
American Medical Association (AMA)
The AMA has provided a web site on the SARS virus with specific emphasis on information from the CDC as it pertains to clinicians and health care environments.
